hey all. Just returned from a brief sabbatical, er not so brief but you know how it is. We’ve returned to shake things up. We still will report some news, but in order to compete with CNN.com we have to lose the complete focus on all thats Asian. We know that this is incredibly disappointing but our ratings are hurting so to our loyal fans, bear with us. We appreciate it.

Adoption Can Be the Wrong Thing

Reports have filed in about children going missing from hospitals in Haiti raising concerns about human trafficking organizations with links to international adoption system. UNICEF is leading recovery efforts and preventative measures. They are urging people to not adopt Haitians because they were possibly kidnapped. However, as per usual, the Western countries are determined to adopt even though many children may have been kidnapped and taken from their families.

This repetoire of incredibly extensive, but thouroughly useless knowledge will help you in those rare and trying times and you will be grateful that you skipped the fast track to learn this stuff……. Ok, who are we kidding? You never want to slack off waiting for life to hand you candy when its handing you lemons. Anyways, did you know that in Israel you can’t blow your nose on Sunday? Also, did you know that in South Korea policemen have to report bribes they recieved for the day at the end of each day? Good stuff.

God or Allah? Are They the Same?

The Middle East Airlines gave aid to Haiti and returned today to the Middle East with over a dozen Middle Eastern survivors. The survivors are reliving the horror of the earthquake to the media and friends and family. However one Lebanese citizen, Islamic, said that it was thanks to God that they survived. This raises an interesting question; Why not thank Allah or are they the same? While it’s always important to pray, why pray to God if you believe in Allah? This is concrete proof that they are one and the same. This is just like Star Wars with Palpatine playing both sides off against the other; Republic vs. Separatists = Christians vs. Crazy Islamic Extremists. Most of the Christian and Islamic faiths are good people, but even in perfect families (not really) there are those that really don’t make good decisions.

Cayman Quake

A 5.8 quake hit the Caymans yesterday morning. Not unusual for the area apparently, but after the Haiti tragedy, people are more aware and cautious. Personally, I think the Caymans have nothing to worry about, I mean with all the illegal offshore funds rich people store there they’d get rapid and comprehensive relief efforts. I’m kidding, but time to find somewhere else to store my money, Swiss banks anyone?

Aftershock In Haiti

Earlier today there was a 6.2 aftershock in Haiti lasting for about 6 or 7 seconds. This didn’t do much damage as most of the infrastructure was already collapsed, but it collapsed most of the rest including a hotel housing relief workers. One woman was injured as she fell down the stairs during the evacuation. Another worker said she was terrified and expressed how scared the children on the street must feel if she is scared and is an adult.

First Chinese Gay Pagaent Canceled

Minutes before the first gay pagaent in Chinese history, the Chinese police shut it down. The official story is that the owner of the hosting club didn’t have the proper permits for the pagaent, therefore the police canceled it. The participants in the pagaent took on English names to mask their real names to avoid discrimination. Unfortunately the Chinese police didn’t care about their precautions or discrimination as long as it was shut down. Personally, homosexuality isn’t for me, but shutting down a pagaent just shows how intolerant the Chinesse government is.

Haiti Tragedy

Sorry, but Planet Asia is taking a little bit of a break to focus on the Haiti earthquake tragedy. As if the Haitians didn’t have enough trouble, with extremely high rates of extreme poverty (5 out of 10) and the average living standard is poverty (8 out of 10), now they have a death toll of over 100,000 dead and constantly mounting. Also, nearly everyone is homeless and sleeping in the streets where they are surrounded with dead bodies and sleep hearing cries for help from the rubble of which they are unable to give aid. To make things worse the rest of the world is taking a long time to respond en masse. However, China, on the other side of the world, beat the U.S. to the relief effort, which is just sad.

Japan Airlines to Merge with Delta

The government backed organization in charge of turning around Japan Airlines announced a merger between the struggling JAL and Delta Air Lines and a move to join the SkyTeam Alliance in 2011. Unfortunately the plan also calls for a 30% cut in the JAL’s workforce by 2013. The ETIC decided to merge with Delta over American Airlines for a more profitable relationship. Yay, capitalism!!!

Cell Phone Radiation Cures Alzheimer’s???

Today a medical journal released a study that links cell phone radiation to Alzheimer’s as a possible cure. It shows that the radiation from cell phones prevented and even reversed the symptoms of Alzheimer’s from manifesting in mice. However, the study also warns and explicitly states that this finding may not be applicable to humans, which is reinforced by Zaven Khacaturian, editor of “ALzheimer’s & Dementia”, who states that the findings of the study are nonsense and the result was due to some other factor. Personally, I think that this is a bit too good to be true and the article doesn’t provide all the answers about hteir experiment, which leaves some questions unanswered, but I will let you draw your own conclusions, you can find the article on the link below:
